ABOUT:
Wonderful color, excellent antique sparkle, and the prettiest little design details to this cluster / halo ring. At the center is a beautiful blue gemstone which is surrounded by the chunky old cuts totaling nearly a carat (0.9ctw). The setting is all in 18k yellow gold with pretty, scrolled details at each shoulder.
Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold. This one was sold to me as a topaz and it does test on a gem tester, but I think looking at the color and clarity, which is reminiscent of a blue zircon in the vibrancy of the color, it may be a synthetic stone. I am selling it as such with no claims otherwise since I have not sent it off for testing. I purchased it more for the color, the antique diamonds and that pretty setting.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/4
The ring face is 12mm north south and 6mm tall off the finger.
The diamonds are 2.7 to 3mm each with a total carat weight of about .9 carats.
Weight: 4.4g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some worn prongs here and there as expected for age but none of the diamonds move. The blue gemstone moves in the bezel setting but is in no danger of coming free. Inside the ring face is a halo of metal solder, I'm not sure why this was done at some point in its long life but it isn't eye visible or seen while wearing at all.
The blue gemstone is in better than most condition with just a few small nibbles to the table facet but overall a wonderful sheen, color and polish. Typical antique diamonds with some faint frosty natural inclusions. Three or four have inclusions that carry up to the surface leaving an indented natural inclusion in one spot that appears as a tiny crease but this is a natural characteristic of the stones. No damage to any of the diamonds. Very lightly gray hues typical for antique stones, but they are all well matching. It has a nice color and sparkle with no dark or glaring carbon spots but you can see the frosty inclusions under magnification.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
