ABOUT:
While this one is lower carat gold, the tradeoff is the awesome patina, more durability and all the fun elements to the bracelet!
You may notice some ripples on each link but this is Not damage, these are hallmarks, with each link stamped. They are hard to make out but I assume it says "8C" for 8k gold, as there are "333" stamps on the bolt clasp which is the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 8k gold. We also know it is from Europe because 8k is the standard there in some countries, although some spots of the bracelet do test higher.
While it is a lower carat, it is real gold, not gold filled or gold plated so it won't flake away or show underlying metal over time like antique gold plate or fill would.
It has a wonderful antique patina, reading quite rosy with some buttery gold highlights as well. The XL spring ring / bolt clasp is collectible on its own and serves as the clasp holding both sides of the bracelet together. There is also a swiveling loop on it and a smaller spring ring that attaches to it as a safety chain. The bracelet is quite secure to wear on its own however, so there is also the option to remove the safety chain and use the swivel to hold a charm.
The bolt clasp can also be removed completely and worn in a neckmess so it has plenty of uses.
Any props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Weight is 7.85 grams.
The links are 8.4mm wide. The bolt clasp is 15.7mm in diameter, not including the swivel or the little bead to open it.
It is a little over 7 1/2 inches long with the large bolt clasp measuring end to end, although it would be very easy to nip off some links since the bolt clasp can be removed completely.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical fabrication where the links are hollow, the gold curled to a seam in the middle. There are also some seams and discoloration where the links are connected since it is a lower carat gold piece but I love the patina on it and the XL spring ring is strong and sturdy. Some wear between the links where they rub against each other for 150 years but still stable and wearable.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings.
I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
