Victorian Antique H INITIAL Old Mine Cut DIAMOND 11mm Wide Cigar Band Ring 18k Gold French Unisex Stacker
ABOUT:
Antique French 18k gold wide cigar band ring with applied initial design of an old font " H " that is set with ten old mine cut diamonds. Sleek, unisex design.
I Love jewelry with words and letters so I am always looking! I wish this was my letter and my size because they are scarce to find, especially the ones set with antique diamonds. There are even small openings behind each diamond to let the light pass through.
Found in France on my recent inventory sourcing trip. No hallmarks remain but sold to me and tests at 18k, the standard there, the mark lost during the sizing of it I'm sure. Beautiful warm rosy antique patina to the gold. That wonderful antique patina that can't be found on modern gold.
Antique box is not included. Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Center of the band sits at around a size 10 1/2 on the mandrel, but with the wide gold that displaces the finger, it might fit just a bit smaller? It is 11mm wide north south at the face, tapering to 6.5mm at the back (so still wide) and weighs 6.5 grams. There are two areas to the back of the shank where the gold is a slightly more yellow hue - evidence of a sizing up I assume, adding a section of gold to the back. There is no line or crease and the variance to the hue is subtle but I mention it because it should be doable to size down again, although opinions vary so it is best to ask your local jeweler who would be doing the work, to determine their comfort level. Sometimes you can call and then text or email pics.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Uniform surface wear commensurate with age. The surface scratches can be more notable due to the sleek and smooth finish of the ring. It is certainly very legible and easy to decipher. There are two circular rivet details to one side of the H. I'm not sure why. Probably done during the fabrication for whatever reason. Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural frosty inclusions, they are small so this is not really noticeable. One has a chip to the surface leaving an unpolished table but it still appears complete to fill the bezel space. Varying hues to the diamonds, typical for antiques. The edges of the shank are blunt from age and wear but the shank is still quite sturdy. Fun stacker! But Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it can reflect its surroundings.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
