I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Timeless and romantic Victorian era earrings in 18k gold, each holding a large old cut paste stones, very chunkily cut with the stones meant to look like old mine cut diamonds. The joy of paste is you get the bright white sparkle and large size without the price! Especially to find in these extra chunky old cuts - each stone measures about 1.3 to 1.5 carat so you can imagine the price multiplier if they were diamonds.
Each is set in the ornate buttercup setting which adds a great antique look and displays wonderful 150 year old patina. They are in easy to wear ear wire settings with a latch at the back that the ear wires are hooked into by tension.
No hallmarks as is typical for the period but they test at 10k gold.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 23mm top to bottom by 12.1mm wide at the buttercup setting. The buttercup settings are 9mm deep to the top of the chunky crowns.
They weigh 2.5g combined.
The paste stones are about 6.3mm cushion cut, around 1.3 and 1.5 carats each as one is a super chunky cut. Total carat weight around 2.8ctw estimated.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Period appropriate patina, darker especially in the recesses of the buttercup settings. Some nicks and nibbles, a few facet abrasions typical for the period but a lovely sheen and polish overall compared to many that get quite dull with a matte surface. These are quite lively - sparkling away here even in artificial light. There is a little bit of solder where the ear wires meet the buttercup settings, this appears to be the original fabrication and not a repair.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
