I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
A beautiful domed diamond cluster ring with larger eye clean old European cut diamond in the center and milgrain details set with additional old cut diamonds around the setting. Such a pretty sparkler. I got this in Stockholm, it was one of my favorites to wear around Europe with the nice sized ring face set with all over sparkle. I love it with a paired with a buttery gold band. A lovely bit of texture to the ring face with little gold bead rivet details and the milgrain outlines with openwork scalloped designs.
This one certainly looks like an Edwardian to Art Deco era piece but the hallmarks are later so the stamps were either struck at a later date for sale in the secondary market, or someone may have taken granny's antique heirloom diamonds and had them reset in a more modern made piece in the antique style. The diamonds are definitely antique and not modern so we know that much. As mentioned, I purchased it in Sweden but it doesn't have the symbol hallmark that I recognize for Sweden or Finland, despite being similar with their lettering system so I was not able to figure out the date mark. But the stamp for 18k gold is clear.
Nice and sturdy piece with prongs in excellent condition making this one ready for regular wear.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 8 1/2
Diamond: The center old European cut is about 5.6mm and about .7 carat alone. The eight smaller stones are a mix of old single cuts and transitionals measuring 2mm and 2.6mm each in the two rows - several with open culets totaling over .3 carat. I do not remove stones for weight and exact depths and thereby carat weight is unknown but measuring them while set estimates to a little over 1 carat total diamond weight (I'm getting 1.1ctw).
Ring face: 11mm north south
Height off finger: 5.6mm tall.
Weight: 4.8g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The center diamond is eye clean with just a few frosty specks under strong magnification. It has a few nibbles, nicks and indented natural inclusions around the girdle edge of the stone seen under magnification but appears complete in shape to the eye while wearing except for one frosty spot right at the edge, teeny tiny that is slightly eye visible if you are seeking it out and it catches the light. For the smaller stones, some are eye clean with just a few specks again under magnification and one has a larger frosty crystal inclusion but again not glaring since it's a smaller stone. No dark carbon inclusions so no glaring issues really. Sturdy setting, so pretty!
I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but I will pass along the grades as I received them of VS to SI in clarity. The center stone was estimated while set at K/L but faces up quite bright especially in ambient light, warming up the slightest bit when viewed from the side. But as seen in the pics it also has a nice rainbow fire. The others were graded in the F, G H color range.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
