ABOUT:
Another one that was meant for me... but cannot be! A gorgeous and delicate 14k gold vintage necklace with uncommon briollette cut diamonds that dangle off the chain like little 3D faceted teardrops.
I found this in France and just fell in love. So much so that when I saw it .... I overpaid for it. : ) Whoopsie! Well it happens sometimes. So having paid retail price for it, I am selling it at break even. So you can have it with no finder's fee, as if you were right there with me in France buying it first hand! : ). I wanted to keep it but we have other needs right now at the Mouse household. : )
A delicate 14k gold chain holds the six briollette cut diamonds by little loops so they can swivel and catch the light and sparkle. The diamonds are small, really dainty so please note the measurements. They are about 4mm top to bottom but because they are 3D, they are chubbier in depth, I was told they each weigh around .2 carat for a total of 1.2 carats.
So minimalist and dainty worn alone but layers well with other pieces too, the way the briollette diamonds can roll around the decollette and sparkle from all sides. Their faceting is almost like a rose cut the way they dome out as 3D ovals and yet dangle as sweet little drops.
I am not sure where this was made as the standard in France is 18k and this one is 14k so it is from somewhere else in Europe. But it has the French secondhand hallmark for 14k gold and the clasp is stamped 585 which is the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 14k gold. Additionally it has a hallmark tag that is stamped "14k Cal.F"
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is 17 to 18 1/4 inches depending on which of the two loops you use.
Six diamonds, each measuring about 4mm top to bottom by 2.2mm deep. To be perfectly honest, I am not sure how to calculate the measurement of a briollette diamond when it is affixed to a chain and can't be put on a scale. I purchased it from a reputable source who told me it was 1.2 carat total weight, so about .2 carat each. They seem small to the eye but with the three dimensional faceting affecting the carat weight.
The entire piece weighs just 1.65 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Again please note the measurements, it is a dainty necklace! The diamonds are drilled with tiny channels on each end. On the top end is the loop that connects it to the chain. The bottom of each stone has the same tiny drilled channel that is vacant. It is right at the tippy tip so it is mostly seen under magnification and that is just how the piece was fabricated.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
