ABOUT:
A diamond and sapphire partial halo ring with a twist! We usually see these diamond and sapphire halo rings with a complete outline of the carre cut square sapphires but in this case, they created lines on the north and south ends only. With the ring face set east to west, this makes a great stacker with color and sparkle! Wonderful geometry to this piece.
The blue square cut natural sapphires provide the two lovely swaths of color above and below the three old cut diamonds. The largest center stone and one other are old mine cuts, one end stone is a transitional cut and the tiny shoulder diamonds are older brilliant cut diamonds. None are replacements and there are no repairs, it was just made this way with a mix of stones in the older vintage period. Perhaps it was a case where family stones were used to incorporate into a newer piece back in the day.
The result is a lovely geometric stacker with a beautiful presence on the hand. I love rings that are set east to west, they look awesome in a lineup with other pieces.
Found in France on my recent inventory trip with their hallmark for 18k gold on the back. The setting is quite sturdy and crisp so while it is definitely a vintage ring, it is from later Art Deco period at the earliest, because it doesn't show much as far as signs of age.
Antique box / props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2
Weight 6.15 grams
Ring face is 9.9mm north south by 17.4mm east west.
The largest center old mine cut diamond is 5x4.5mm and about .4 carat alone. The other old mine cut is about 4.5mm and about .35 carat and the transitional cut is about 4.3mm / .3 carat. The 20 diamonds in the ring shoulders are small, about 1.3mm.
I would not remove the stones for an exact measurement but estimates to a total carat weight of about 1 1/4 carat (1.25ctw) in diamonds alone.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The largest center diamond has a small carbon cloud inclusion within it and one indented natural inclusion on the outside edge that appears as a frosty crevice at the surface of the stone. These things are slightly eye visible if you seek them out. The other old mine cut has a small carbon inclusion and the transitional cut has a frosty crystal inclusion that can catch the light, again slightly eye visible. All stones fill the settings with no chips or cracks. The diamonds also have a slight bit of warmth typical for the antique period but face up brighter. The difference in cuts are not glaring while wearing but the transitional cut can reflect the light a bit differently compared to the chunkier old mine cut diamonds so you can seek this out in the zoom photos which will display it much more than with normal wear. The sapphires are in excellent condition with no abrasions or damage. There is really nothing glaring but I always describe everything I see under magnification so there are never any surprises.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
