Vintage 1.35 Carat 20 Transitional Cut DIAMOND Full Eternity Hoop Ring 18k White Gold French Band Unique Romantic Gift Stacker 1.35Ctw 1 1/3

ABOUT:

An interesting little transitional cut diamond eternity band. Rather than having the diamonds set into gold or bezels, this one has each stone held by little bead prongs, allowing the circular shape of the stones to give it a daintier scalloped effect on the finger. Something about it kind of reminds me of a zig zag pattern with the gold work being square at the base of the pronged settings.

Very versatile piece for layering and despite my previous description including "little" and "dainty", the piece holds twenty diamonds totaling around 1 1/3 carat. This is an older French vintage piece as evidenced by the transitional cut stones with their period appropriate cutting methods including the frosted girdles seen under magnification.

It bears the French symbol hallmark for 18k gold on the vertical edge. For the eagle eyed who may spot this in photos - note that this is not a ding or dent to the gold but the intentional hallmark strike.

I had a lot of fun mixing and matching this one with other pieces, pairing it with gold or other diamond bands, both new and old.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/4.

The twenty transitional cut diamonds each measure about 2.6mm for a total carat weight of about 1 1/3 carat (1.35ctw tdw)

The ring face is 3.3mm north to south with the prongs on each diamond and stands 2.7mm off the finger. It weighs 2.85 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

I always recommend gentler wear on my preowned pieces, especially those with multiple small stones and even more so with eternity rings where the palm side of the hand comes into contact with surfaces. A worn prong here or there from age but none of the stones move.

This one is also better suited for gentler wear by nature because the prongs are blunt. This is not a condition issue as it is how the piece has always been and was originally fabricated, but with eternity bands, the stones on the side come into contact with the adjacent finger and the blunt prongs can be felt. Something to note if you are selective about how pieces "feel". If it were paired with a chunkier band, this is lessened because adding a smoother piece adjacent to it lessens the rubbing affect.

Typical vintage diamonds with some natural inclusions, some frosty ones or a small spot or silk inclusion, but they appear bright white and have a wonderful sparkle. The stones are small overall so there is nothing glaring or even really eye visible due to their size, it is all more seen under magnification.
