ABOUT:
This is a versatile vintage layering chain in the style of "diamonds by the yard." The 18k white gold cable chain holds 20 old cut diamonds evenly spaced all around. For an added geometry, each is set in a square setting situated like a diamond shape linked into the chain.
I purchased this in Paris. This isn't an antique but all the diamonds are old cut, most being old mine cut with open culets. I'm not sure if they salvaged the antique diamonds from another piece or what the story is but it's a fun antique touch with wonderful sparkle. Fun to wear and layer. Total carat weight for the necklace is about 2 carats per the place I purchased it from.
French hallmarks on the loops for 18k gold with some goldsmith stamps and a safety chain as well.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Each diamond is about 2.8mm give or take with about 2 carats total weight - this was given to me as an estimate from the place I purchased it from. I would not remove them for exact weight.
The chain is 15 inches in length.
Each diamond pendant in halo square setting is 5.5mm.
Weight: 9.6g
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamonds are a bit frosty with some natural inclusions. No dark or glaring carbon and they are small so they just add a glint of sparkle. They have a nice bright color as well. No damage. Ready for regular wear! Note that the piece does flip and roll. It is shown with all stones perfectly face up while wearing but because of how it was fabricated the settings can sometimes flip. Just how it was made - pretty to layer!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
