ABOUT:

An eye catching vintage solitaire with an antique old cut diamond in a timeless setting. The .6 carat diamond is set in a full bezel setting with wide, domed shoulders leading up to the ring face.

While the piece is at least vintage, the old mine cut is older and antique. I'm not exactly sure when the piece was made as sometimes older pieces are re-stamped at later dates in the second hand market. This one has hallmarks for Sheffield, 18k gold, year 1991.

Easy to wear low profile design with a lovely comfort fit. Makes a timeless engagement ring, adds geometry and sparkle to a ring stack. It layers really wonderfully with other pieces. And ready to be worn every day with the diamond set in the sturdy bezel. The bezel is contrasted in a white precious metal (I suspect platinum), to serve as an illusion setting to make the diamond look bigger. It was also customary in earlier times to set diamonds in a white metal as it was thought to increase their brilliance.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 5 1/2
Ring face: 6.3mm diameter and 4.5mm tall off the finger.
Weight: 4.6g.
The diamond is about 5.3mm and widens out further an unknown amount in the bezel setting so it is difficult to determine measurements but it is at the very least .6 carat, again appearing larger with the bezel. This is an estimate as I would not remove the stone from the setting for exact measurements.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Well you knew it was coming - the diamond report.
Like many many old cuts, this antique diamond is included. There is a smattering of eye visible crystals with small carbon specks on one side of the stone extending under the table. On the opposite side under the table are three additional less visible inclusions. So this one is obviously lower in terms of clarity, sometimes just one of those things that can be found with the unique eccentricities of antique diamonds - cut in much more limited supply compared to the millions of modern diamonds produced each year now. This one is not a salt and pepper stone as the carbon isn't throughout the stone or as apparent as it would be in an S&P but it does have the smattering in one area, covering about 1/6th of the stone.
It seems to have a more subdued color and reflects the light differently being nested into a deep gold bezel compared to one suspended in prongs where the pavilion can catch the light, but it has quite a lot of sparkle. And the setting also makes it very interesting! A fun one to layer and stack. Sturdy piece, ready to wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
