ABOUT:
My MHA peeps know I tend to carry mostly older pieces But! I always carry what I like, and this one... I like. Found in Paris, definitely a vintage piece. This ring sets the natural .9 carat emerald cut diamond east to west amidst the glowing 18k gold wide band.
As a fun design element, the bezel is in platinum, contrasting from the yellow gold shank and helping the diamond look larger. From the side, the chunk shank has a ribbed detail to then hold the thick bezel for a retro look. I think it looks great in a mixed metal stack.
For those of us who love stacking, the flatter north south edges serve it well. It would also make a unique, one of a kind engagement ring.
In excellent, ready for daily wear condition. The emerald cut being one of the step cut methods - giving the stone a great geometry and a hall of mirrors effect when looking through the stone.
French hallmarks for 18k and platinum.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8. It weighs 5.6 grams.
The diamond is 6.9mmx5mm just measuring the exposed portions. It was sold to me at about .9 carat. It has the desirable ratio for the elongated rectangular step cut - classic!
The ring face is 7.2mm north to the south on the finger and it stands 4.6mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Zero damage to the diamond. Very little by way of eye visible inclusions. There is just one cloud inclusion that can catch the light but at some angles fades. Nothing else visible. A sturdy setting too.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
