What a fabulous toi et moi ring!
Timeless and on trend with a bright and very clear emerald cut diamond and a rich and deep green natural emerald, each nested side by side in the comfortable and sleek bezel settings.
The tradition of giving toi et moi rings to represent the love between two people dates back centuries, but the style was brought to the attention of a wider audience when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with one. Other famous rings include the toi et moi given to Jacqueline Onassis by John F Kennedy in 1953, which was also an emerald and diamond piece!
Found in France on my recent inventory trip with their hallmark for 18k gold on the back. While I usually go for older pieces, I buy what I love and would wear and I am always looking for the unique. This one would be amazing as an engagement ring with its romantic toi et moi sentiment, but has a wonderful stackability and geometry as well, ready for every day day to day wear.
Vintage Box IS Included! These old boxes are collectible and hold value. The box is not original to the piece, but I am including it as a gift because it's always fun to store our goodies in collectible housing : )
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4
Weight 3.65 grams
Ring face is 7.3mm north south by 11.9mm east west. It is 3.5mm tall off the finger.
The diamonds 5.5 by 4.5mm and around .65 carat. The emerald is 6.1x5.3mm and around .85 carat. This is just measuring the exposed portions, it widens out an unknown amount in the bezels. I would not remove the stones for an exact measurement so this is an estimate.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
In about as good of condition as I can find for a pre-owned piece. Not only is the emerald free from abrasions, it has no milkiness or anything that carries up to the surface (which often leaves emeralds with a crease or nibbles). This one has a deep rich green color that masks any inclusions and no major surface wear. Similarly, the diamond is excellent, eye clean with no noticeable inclusions and a bright white color. Both stones set in sturdy bezels ready for daily wear. Love!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
