I always carry a big assortment of antique jewelry. These items have been hand picked, one treasure at a time from all around Europe and the USA as I try to curate a collection of unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
ABOUT:
I love stackable bands and this one has some unique geometric design elements which allows it to stand out from many of the prong set or gypsy style bands. This five stone ring is set with older brilliant cut diamonds in graduating sizes that step downward towards the shoulders. The ring face has a nice height to it making it a great stacker and the gallery has sloping details extending out below the platforms that hold the diamonds. With the linear details between each stone, it has a more square / geometric look to it.
Under strong magnification, the diamonds, while they are brilliant cut, have evidence in the way they were cut that they are not modern day stones, as they were done in line with the methods used over 60 years ago. However it is not as old as a rose cut or mine cut method.
Stamped Irid. Plat. for platinum with iridium added for strength as was popular during the vintage period to create more durability and resistance to tarnish.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
The center diamond is about 2.6mm and the flanking diamonds are 2.4mm each, with the end stones about 2mm each.
Size 5 3/4, the ring face is 4.1mm north to south, 16mm east west, 4mm tall of the finger. It weighs 3.5 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No damage to the diamonds. Some faint natural inclusions seen under magnification as typical for the period but no carbon and nothing glaring to the eye as the diamonds aren't huge. Each stone is well held by four bead prongs that are in good condition considering age. None of the stones move.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
