ABOUT:
My favorite stone in all the world - the Perpignan garnet! These special jewels are trademarked and made only in that area of Catalonia France. There have only ever been a small handful of makers in all the world at a time that were trained in the multi step process of creating these special pieces.
This is a vintage (or older, I'm thinking maybe Art Deco?) piece I purchased when I visited Perpignan, the day I went to the jewelry exposition / display - (feel free to ask me about this, I have tons of information about them I can share but don't want to overwhelm the listing). I am only not keeping it because I already have one - ; ).
The colors this one possesses are a true red color, with a lighter flash of light / inner glow from the foil used in the fabrication.
Note that these can sometimes roll around on the wrist, which I also find fun because the gold domed back of the bezel settings are beautiful in themselves! Lovely to roll around in a wriststack!
Found in France with the French stamps for 18k on the clasp.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
7 1/4 inches in length not including the tongue insert.
It weighs over 14 grams. Each garnet is about 12x8mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one was worn and enjoyed as there are some abrasions to the garnets. The one by the clasp is noticeably scuffed for example and the others have some nicks, nibbles, wear to facets. No major loss to the stones in terms of deep chips and no cracks, they are not dull or lifeless in any way. It's just the surface wear that can catch the light which is less visible in normal ambient light. All stones are well set and the clasp functions well. All the stones have at least some abrasions but manage to still really sparkle and glow. The ones towards the back / clasp more than the front facing ones.
One gradual deeper ding to one of the domed backs of the collet settings, the rest are just a very gradual ripple here or there.
I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lighting conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
