ABOUT:
So much character to this Paris find! I got this one on my last sourcing trip there and I find the geometry along with the spready sparkle of the organically shaped rose cuts make this one so unique and interesting! Add that in with the low profile bezel setting and it is so comfortable to wear and stack.
When I mention the organic shape, it's interesting that the stones aren't perfectly symmetrical or perfectly matching. Each has its own custom hexagonal bezel that was formed to encase each stone's natural shape. The spready diamonds are on the thinner side but face up quite large so the ring has an impactful scale as well.
Curiously, it is crafted in silver with the shank having gold vermeil so it reads as a yellow gold piece with shiny silver bezels around the stones. French hallmarks for silver.
This would make a unique wedding or engagement ring as well with the two stones giving toi et moi vibes where each stone represents one part of the couple.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 6 1/2, slightly over measuring the middle of the wide shank. It weighs 2.7 grams.
The ring face is 7.4mm at the ring face tapering to 4.7mm wide at the back.
One diamond is 6.7x5.9mm, the other is 6.7x5.7 and a bit more pear shaped. They widen out a bit further into the closed collet setting. Exact carat weight is unknown since they are such weirdo cuts and I wouldn't destroy the piece to put them on a scale. They face up around .8 carat each but actual carat weight is much less since the stones are flat backed with no pavilions.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamonds have a wonderful clarity but they have some indented natural inclusions around the girdle edge of the stone that can reflect a bit of frost on the outside edge. This is a natural characteristic of the stone when it was cut and is pressed right up against the bezel edge. No eye visible inclusions otherwise, they have a wonderful clarity. Organic free form cuts. There is one outside skinny edge of the shank that appears as silver where it was tested but it does not affect the wide band portion of the shank, rather just the edge. It otherwise appears as gold while wearing.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
