I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered one piece at a time from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

A true blue natural sapphire ring surrounded by a halo of ten chunky old mine cut diamonds. I got this one in Sweden and it was made in 1946, although the old mine cuts with their chunky cuts totaling over 1 1/4 carats are most certainly older.

In excellent ready for regular wear condition with sturdy prongs well holding each diamond and good condition to the sapphire as well!

Wonderful color to the natural sapphire with a lighter glow from within with rutile silk inclusions that can catch the light to add to the glow effect, similar to a star sapphire but without the star pattern. While many in the gem world consider inclusions an "imperfection", when it comes to sapphires, they can often actually enhance the color and beauty of the stone.

I get so many requests for these halo rings that I've found I've had a hard time sourcing them so I was excited to find this one with its antique sparkle and chunky cuts. This one is comfortable as well with the underside of the ring face curved to nest against the finger.

Swedish hallmarks for 18k gold, date 1946.

Antique boxes, props, staircases and bannisters ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
A snug Size 7 1/4.
It weighs 3.65 grams.

Ring face 15.5x14mm and 5.3mm tall off the finger.

The sapphire is 7.5x5.5mm. The diamonds in the halo are 2.8 to 3.5mm each, chunky cuts with high crowns and that wonderful hand chiseled appearance we love in our antique stones. At least 1.25 carats total weight in diamonds with the thicker cuts.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

A few nibbles to the table facet junctions but for age the sapphire has a better than most sheen and polish, not appearing dull or matte finish from tons of abrasions. A few scratches to the stone as expected for age. I take some pictures in direct sunlight to capture the inner color but this highlights the little nibbles making them appear much worse than they do with normal wear so that is something to note.

Typical antique diamonds with faint natural inclusions. Some of the stones are eye clean, one has a thumbnail looking inclusion and another area of inclusions that carry up to the surface, one has a tiny smattering of carbon not eye visible, and there is a crystal needle here and there but nothing overall glaring. Also typical for antique diamonds there are various hues, one reading a gorgeous pale yellow color, the others with slight degrees of warmth in part due to the way the chunky cuts reflect the light. I love antique diamonds like these.

Super sturdy setting, ready to wear. The prongs are chubby and can be felt across the finger a bit blunt.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
