ABOUT:
Fabulous figural French Art Deco earrings with a winged / cornucopia / swirl design. Each is set with five old mine cut diamonds totaling around half a carat total diamond weight on each earring / 1 carat total weight in diamonds combined. These are fun because they can be worn with the wing pointing up or down, or run along the bottom of the ear. They could also be worn sideways in the first or second ear hole like the "crawler or climber" earring designs that run the long way instead of hanging down.
Note - I apologize that I don't have anyone to model jewelry for me. I did try to take some selfies to show how they wear but they turned out poorly and are not worthy of the listing. Feel free to contact me however and I can share the ones I did take to give you a very vague idea of how they could be worn aside from the listing photos on the ear form.
Larger size with sturdy ear posts that have tight, spring loaded clips to secure them (instead of pushbacks) so they are similar to clip on earrings but are for pierced ears. These really stand out to me of all the earrings I have carried over the years.
Found in Paris with French hallmarks for 18k gold.
Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each 2.7 to 3mm. The earrings are 27 by 13mm.
The pair weigh a sturdy 8.2 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note that the ear posts have a nice and sturdy gauge - something to note if you have the tiniest of ear holes. : )
One of the smallest end stones is an old single cut while the others are old mine cuts. May have been a case where the jeweler used what they had available to them. One diamond on each earring has a nick / small chip, not glaringly eye visible.
Typical antique diamonds with natural inclusions, small frosty spots here and there to the old cut stones. Again, mostly seen under magnification since they are small diamonds. Nothing glaring and no dark carbon spots, they are not lifeless stones, rather they have a nice sparkle, despite some frosty spots and slight warmth also typical and expected for antique stones.
There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it reflects its surroundings. Some surface scratches can catch the light in some lighting conditions due to the shiny mirrored finish.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
