ABOUT:
I bought this one in Paris for my personal collection but it is too large for me so I am letting it go.
XL antique 18k gold band with amazing floral detail. With floral and leaf details all the way around, textbook ornate Georgian to early Victorian era design. The flat north and south edges make it the perfect stacker and the domed center with the incredible detail and texture make it also substantial enough to wear alone with a width of 11mm.
I couldn't find any hallmarks on it, I wonder if there is one hidden somewhere in the design but sold to me from a reputable place in France as 18k and tested to confirm with an acid test and a kee tester. It is not rose gold, nor is it a vibrant yellow gold - it has warmed with that rich antique glowing patina that is so sought after since it can't be found on modern pieces. Darker patina to the low relief / recesses make the incredible designs really pop. I'd be happy to polish this if desired but most of my buyers prefer original patina.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is around a size 8 1/2 to 8 3/4 to the middle of the ring on a mandrel and seems to fit that way as well. It weighs 4.2 grams. The gold is stamped so like repousse work so the inside edge is domed. It is not so flimsy that it flexes when you squeeze it or anything like that, the piece is quite stable. It is quite comfortable to wear.
North south width of of 11mm and it domes about 2mm deep.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
There is a patch to the gold, about 2.5mm in diameter to one of the flowers - please seek this out in photos. Proof of its incredible age. It blends into the petals but just doesn't have that perfect repousse detail that the rest of the piece has. I had just planned to wear it with this to the back / inside palm of the hand so it is less noticeable but even when facing up it is not glaring. Sold as is. The edge is a bit "edgy" feeling when you run your finger across it but I did not find it uncomfortable to wear and it is not sharp. Still something to consider if you plan to wear it tightly on a finger and are specific about how it "feels". Incredible detail and perfect patina. Some darker patina, a bit of buildup and discoloration to the inside, but I did not over soak or scrub it because of said perfect patina.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
