XL Domed Oval 1.75 Carat Old Mine Cut Diamond Cluster RING 18k White Gold PLATINUM French ANTiQUE
ABOUT:
Note my video capabilities on the website are down but I have several videos if you'd like to see the piece in action : ). Feel free to reach out and request!
Glitter encrusted oval ring with chunky center old mine cut diamond cropping out of the ring face. The large pointed oval face is set with 24 old mine and old single cut diamonds. These are set in demi collet settings around the outside edge and bead prongs to give the ring face a great cobblestone look with amazing sparkle.
Found in Paris, this French Belle Epoque era ring is from the early 1900s and is crafted in 18k white gold and platinum with the French hallmarks on the shank along with a worn goldsmith stamp. The underside of the ring face is openwork with arching designs to add interest at any angle. It domes nicely off the finger with an amazing sparkle and a .8 inch footprint north south on the finger.
The ring totals around 1 1/3 carat total weight in diamonds so it has an amazing impact. And the sturdy setting is in good condition making this beauty ready for regular wear, which we love to find on antiques.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8 1/4. The ring face is 20x15mm and stands 6.5mm off the finger.
The center diamond is about 5mm with a high crown / thick and chunky cut and is over half a carat alone. The diamonds on the north south tips are 3.7mm each. The others measure 1.5 to 2.5mm each. Exact carat weight is not known as I would not remove the stones from the setting, but just using estimates by mm it is around 1 3/4 carat (1.75Ctw Tdw).
It weighs 6.9 grams with a study setting and nice quality hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds with some eccentricities. A few with a very very slight warmth but overall well matching and facing up quite bright white, especially the largest stones. The largest center diamond has a great clarity with no eye visible inclusions and only a small needle inclusion seen under strong lit magnification. The other larger old mine cut is also eye clean but the one on the opposite end has some chips with shallow flakes of loss on one side. The stone still appears complete in the sitting and fills the space, but the loss to the top edge leaves an unpolished, frosty textured area that is eye visible. There is one other of the smallest single cut diamonds that has the same type of wear. The smaller stones have some frosty spots and faint natural inclusions. No dark specks or dark inclusions. Under magnification some of the smaller single cuts reflect their frosted girdles (validating that they are old cut stones cut before the modern machine cuts), which gives those stones a frostier appearance as well, but this is not a flaw in the diamond but just how they were cut. Uniform surface wear. It is such an interesting piece, fun to wear and stack.
But as with all my estate pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item.
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
