Selling an assortment of vintage and antique jewelry. These items have been hand picked, one treasure at a time from all around Europe and the US as I try to curate a collection of unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Today's stock drop includes a lot of chunky and figural rings!
ABOUT:
This is a fun one that stopped me in my tracks when I spotted it in France. Wonderful 3D figural rose bud floral ring with an incredibly heavy hand feel weighing 17.1 grams of solid 18k gold. The detail is amazing, with the rose petals folding back around a center deep golden yellow sapphire. The gold work is beautiful with areas of high shine that have a rosy hue from its quality fabrication and age, and the recesses are textured with a matte finish to give the piece depth. The buttery, glowing yellow gold and texture is mouth watering. This large statement ring gracefully adorns the finger and stands tall so it is beautiful from all angles. Even the back of the shank which is quite sturdy continues the figural detailing around the ring.
French hallmark for 18k gold. I'm not sure how old it is. Appears Art Nouveau in style and clearly has some age to it with signs of organic wear over time that has beautifully bloomed the gold, but I'm not sure when it was made, just that it is exceptional in quality.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/4. The ring face is 24mm north south and stands 12.5mm off the finger. It weighs an extra heavy / sturdy 17.1 grams. The back of the shank even remains wide at 5.2 grams. The yellow sapphire is about 4mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Uniform surface wear that can catch the light due but it's a wonderful piece with no damage aside from what we expect to see commensurate with age. The yellow sapphire is held inside the ring face by four little prongs so the stone is very secure, but it does click when you tap it and move in the setting at the center of the flower. Some scratches can be seen on the matte finish areas inside the folds of the petals but this is seen mostly under magnification. Quite a special piece, I have not seen one like it.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
There are no dark spots to the gold, it just reflects its surroundings in the photographs at times.
