ABOUT:
Awesome antique double chain necklace with a dog clip fastener at the back and a large fist with an ornate cuff holding a circular hoop that swivels slightly. The perfect antique addition to a neckmess or neckstack, the large and striking figural hand would allow multiple charms to be assembled together to make an awesome amulet. It's also substantial enough to wear alone with the double chain but can also layer well with other chains and pendants. Also fun that it is double sided so completely reversible.
No hallmarks that I could find. I think it may have been assembled in antiquity because there is vacant space between the two sides at the top of the cuff and with the loops welded to the cuff at each side, it doesn't seem original to me. The chain doesn't quite hold strong long term a 10k test so is likely 9k gold. The fist and swivel are 14k gold. The dog clip is gold filled. Found on a recent inventory trip to Texas, I purchased it from an antique dealer friend who has been in the business for over 40 years. The gold has a lovely warm patina with rosy hues but not the vibrant pink rose gold of today.
Antique boxes, pendants / displays and any additional items in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 25 grams but note that this is not all gold weight. There appears to be some filler inside the hollow fist, probably to stabilize it. And the dog clip is gold filled. Chain is about 27 inches stretched end to end. The pendant is about 1.4 inches from the top of the cuff to the bottom of the hoop and 3/4 of an inch side.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A few shallop impressions to the fist leaving a ripple here or there. The chain is in good shape and nice and sturdy. Still very wearable. Some loss to the layers of gold fill on the dog clip.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
